| Name origin | ABF stands for Arkansas Best Freight, from the 1957 merger of Arkansas Motor Freight and Best Motor Freight into Arkansas-Best Freight System Inc. The company was renamed ABF Freight System in 1980. | The name appears to combine the initials AJF with a plain description of the business, trailer leasing. No source consulted explains what the initials stand for, so the page does not guess. |
