Top 15 Production Cars With the Fastest Nürburgring Lap Times: Analysis

Lap length changes the order

The Nordschleife is usually timed over 20.832 km today, but Lamborghini, Porsche and Mercedes also published times on the shorter 20.6 km layout. Porsche’s own conversions put the GT2 RS Manthey at 6:43.300 on the full lap and 6:38.835 on the short one, so mixed bases can move a car several places. See our Porsche logo history for the brand behind seven of these entries.

Claims are not a standard test

Drivers, tyres, kits, weather and verification vary, and the Nürburgring itself places some entries in pre-production classes. Treat the table as documented claims, with the Mercedes-AMG One clearly ahead and the middle positions separated by fractions of a second.

Important context

  • The Mercedes-AMG One is more than 14 seconds clear of the next listed car.
  • Porsche appears seven times, including a Taycan electric car with the Manthey kit.
  • Older Lamborghini and Porsche times use a shorter 20.6 km lap, so they flatter those cars.

FAQ: Top 15 Production Cars With the Fastest Nürburgring Lap Times

What is the fastest production car around the Nürburgring Nordschleife?

The Mercedes-AMG One, at 6:29.090 over 20.832 km in September 2024, is the fastest production-car time announced here.

Why do some times use 20.6 km?

Before 2019 many manufacturers timed the Nordschleife without section T13, about 200 m shorter. Those times are not directly comparable with full-lap runs.

Are Mustang GTD Competition and Ford GT Mk IV included?

No. The Nürburgring lists them as pre-production or prototype entries, so they are excluded from this production list.

Is this list the official Nürburgring ranking?

No. The circuit does not publish one ranking for all cars. This is a selection of documented manufacturer and circuit announcements.

Sources & methodology

Times are the figures announced by manufacturers or the circuit operator, converted to seconds for the chart. Most 2020s laps cover the full 20.832 km; Lamborghini, Porsche GT2 RS and the Huracán Performante used the older 20.6 km layout without section T13, so those times are claims on a shorter lap. Where both exist the full-lap time is used. Runs differ in driver, tyres, weather and kit. This is a selection of documented claims, not an exhaustive official table, and prototypes, track-only cars and Nürburgring-classed pre-production entries are excluded.
