Name originThe company carries the surname of its founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini, an Italian industrialist who made tractors before he built sports cars. The bull in the badge is a second layer of naming, because most Lamborghini model names also come from the world of Spanish bullfighting. The name combines the acronym A.L.F.A., for Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili, with the surname of the Neapolitan engineer and entrepreneur Nicola Romeo, who took control of the company in 1915. The first car to carry the combined Alfa Romeo name was the Torpedo 20-30 HP in 1920.
