The first car to carry the combined Alfa Romeo name was the Torpedo 20-30 HP in 1920.The company carries the surname of its founder, Giovanni Bertone, who set up a carriage building and repair shop in Turin in 1912. His son Giuseppe, known as Nuccio, later led the firm, so the name stayed in the family for generations.
