Name originThe company is named for co-founder Louis Chevrolet, a Swiss-born racing driver and engineer. Louis and his brother Arthur partnered with William C. Durant, the ousted founder of General Motors, to start the Chevrolet Motor Car Company in 1911. Durant used the new company's profits to buy back control of General Motors a few years later, folding Chevrolet in as a GM division.Aria Group has not published why it chose the name "Aria." The word is most commonly known as a musical term for a solo vocal piece, but no company statement ties the name to that meaning, to a founder, or to any other documented source. The origin should be treated as unconfirmed rather than settled.
