Name originThe name joins the Italian word for car with Bianchi, the Milan firm founded by Edoardo Bianchi in 1885. The first Autobianchi model, the Bianchina, was named as a tribute to Edoardo Bianchi's first car of 1899.The company carries the surname of its founder, Giovanni Bertone, who set up a carriage building and repair shop in Turin in 1912. His son Giuseppe, known as Nuccio, later led the firm, so the name stayed in the family for generations.
